This Ludwig Von Drake celluloid frame was produced in 1955 at Walt Disney Studios. It was only later able to be featured in 1961 when NBC produced color television and the series The Wonderful World of Disney was shown in color television for the first time. This scene is from that first episode and is titled: “The Hunting Instinct.”

Professor Ludwig Von Drake is a cartoon character created by The Walt Disney Company. He is the paternal uncle of Donald Duck. He was first introduced as the presenter (and singer of "The Spectrum Song") in the cartoon An Adventure in Color, part of the first episode of Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color on NBC.[5] According to the episode The Hunting Instinct of that series he and Donald Duck's father are brothers. He is described as a scientist, lecturer, psychologist, and world traveler. The character displayed his "expert" knowledge on a variety of subjects in eighteen episodes of the classic anthology series, as well as on a number of Disneyland Records.

Prior to digital animation, hand painted celluloid frames were created. For each tiny movement of a character in a Disney animated television show, a cel painting must be made. These cel paintings are individually photographed over master backgrounds, producing a succession of pictures which, when projected one after another, create the illusion of motion. The resultant animated film is then transferred to videotape for television broadcast.
