Up for sale is a ONE OF A KIND, ORIGINAL, personal hand-signed letter from Senator Edward M. Kennedy to Mr. Stoney Cooks.
The 1-page letter, dated September 20, 1971, measures 6\" x 9\" and it was sent to Stoney Cooks previously of Atlanta, Georgia. Stoney and his wife, Shirley (Belefonte) Cooks, were both veterans of the early civil rights movement. Stoney Cooks worked with Dr. Martin Luther King as a staffer at the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The letter is typed on Senator Kennedy\'s United States Senate stationary. IN FULL: \"Just a note to send you the enclosed material on the Voter Registration Bill I introduced last month in the Senate. I\'m aware of your strong interest in the issue, and I hope that you will support our efforts for reform.\" It is signed \"Ted Kennedy\".
NOTE: The Voter Registration Bill that he references is NOT included in this sale. Also, please note that the letter is NOT addressed to Mr. Stoney Cooks.
Generally, the letter is in Good condition. There is a slight crease fold in the bottom left corner. Some wear around the edges, and other small dings.
