President JFK John F Kennedy 1962 Luo Kamba Tribe Stool- Kenya Personal Gift:
Thanks for viewing!
You are offerding on a One of a Kind John F Kennedy Piece of History!
This Luo Kenya stool was most likely gifted to JFK in 1962 as a thank you for his famine relief assistance as well as support of the Kennedy Airlift contributions.
This stool shares the exact details and style of a similar work of art in the Smithsonian Museum of African Art by artist Luberatus Onyango who died in 1988. He was sell known to make presentation pieces for dignitaries that were commissioned by the likes of President Tom Mboya and others. Included in the pictures is the listing from the museum as well as a picture of another Luo stool in the White House during the Presidency of Barack Obama.
This is stool is carved from a solid piece of wood with a glass bead crafted pattern that reads "To President Kennedy USA With Compliments from Kenya" with 1962 in the center. This piece was made one year prior to JFK's assassination.
The stool is in great overall condition with some minor signs of aging and minor wood surface cracks on top and bottom of the stool and some wear spots on the top. Measurements are as follows- Diameter appx 18" and height is appx 16".
Please ask any questions prior to offerding. Piece is being sold AS IS in the condition it is in. I can provide more detailed pictures if requested. There is no artist mark on the piece as is the case with most of these stools.
With this sale, you are getting the stool in the individual pictures, not the one in President Obama's office and not the one from the Smithsonian museum. This piece came from an estate that is full of JFK collectibles, but none as spectacular as this one. All other pieces will be listed over the next few months. There are plenty of books, pens, autographs/signatures on the market but only one of these!
Shipping with insurance is included in the purchase price.
