This is a set of two original vintage silver gelatin prints taken on July 2, 1910, in New Britain, Connecticut showing the first flight in New England by famed aviator Charles Hamilton (1885-1914)Hamilton was one of the pioneers in early aviation, and noted for how crazy and dangerous his flights were. He was called \"crazy man of the air\" because of his dangerous dives, numerous crashes. He survived more than 60 accidents while flying.Each print measures 3 1/2\" x 5 1/2\". On the back of each are notations. They read:\"Chas. K. Hamilton The First Flight in New England at New Britian Conn. taken July 2, 1910 by EC Wilcox Meriden\"
The other reads:

the prints are in very good condition; there is some silvering in the lower shadow area of one print, tiny emulsion loss to lower right tip. Related Items:
