**ITEM OVERVIEW**For sale/sale is an exceptionally beautiful, authentic mid-19th-century (circa 1850s) sixth-plate daguerreotype portrait capturing a young Victorian girl.**VISUAL & HISTORICAL DETAILS**
* **The Subject:** A young girl posed in classic 1850s fashion, featuring a traditional wide, off-the-shoulder neckline dress with short cap sleeves and a deeply pleated bodice. Her hair is styled in a striking, period-correct sharp center part smoothed flat over her ears.
* **The Presentation:** Reflecting the long exposure times required in early photography studios, she holds a wonderfully serious, classic "grumpy" stoic expression perfectly characteristic of the era.
* **Provenance Note:** This piece was acquired by a long-time collector in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, alongside an authenticated 1850s Utah pioneer daguerreotype of John Parry Sr. (currently active in my other listings). While the cases differ, they were preserved together in the same private collection for decades.**PHYSICAL CONDITION & FEATURES**
* **Format:** True Daguerreotype (highly reflective silver-plated copper sheet). Displays a classic brilliant, ghostly silver-mirror inversion when tilted in the light.
* **Perimeter Aging:** Displays gorgeous, natural blue-gold "solarization" and tarnish rings around the perimeter edges where air naturally interacted with the silver plate under the glass over the past 170+ years.
* **Housing:** Securely held inside its original ornate, stippled gold mat window and the bottom tray half of its original wood and leather case. The leather back features a beautifully sharp, geometric knotwork embossed pattern. Please note: The front lid is missing due to a naturally separated spine hinge.**SHIPPING & HANDLING**
