Beautiful hand hammered Lota Ganga-Jamuna from the late 18th -early 19th century . Hand made in India . It features a beautiful floral pattern with exceptional patina. Inside you can see the texture from where the metal was layed out and hand hammered before the vase was formed . On the bottom of you look closely you can see a small dot this dot is from the artisan hand measuring the bottom. When an metalsmith shapes a vessel using the repoussé technique, they start with a flat sheet of metal. They use a divider tool (a metal compass) to scribe perfect concentric guidelines around the sheet before hammering it into a three-dimensional form. A incredible piece of living history .
