Seller Note:I have received many messages, questions and comments on these.
Here is what I can say for sure:1. They match the 1969 Scooby-Doo Where Are You? title screen set perfectly
2. The coding (45 STK 584 or 583) matches the show and the fact that they were used in multiple screen sequences3. The placement markers confirm that they were placed in different sequences for different episodes4. Shaggy and Fred have actual holes - the rest don't5. Most have what look to be added animator placement marks6. The individual drawings have faint shadows in the background on the paper that are indicative of the Vintage Mimeograph Rolled Drum Copiers used in that time period7. All the individuals have those same markings - so the same machine was used as the drums on those machines tended to warp a little and gather a little extra ink in certain areas8. The background on the group photo is completely clear - no shadows. (But it also has no actual holes)9. The paper is in an aged condition to be over 50+ years old. 10. There is no Certificate of Authenticity
Here is what I think:In the 1969 Scooby-Doo Where Are You? the characters were in different positions for different episodes in the title screens. Sometimes one character was changed a little bit, maybe something was added. However, the rest were left the same, or scrambled in position.I believe the Hanna Barbera Animators made these rolled Mimeograph copies and then used those copies to mark where they were going to place them in the Title Sequences. That's why they have added marks to the copies. I suspect that the reason Fred and Shaggy have actual holes in them and the rest don't, is because they are Master Copies.
Where I got them:My late husband collected pretty much everything. All of the stuff in our shop was his in fact. He has many books of cels from various animated series (not yet listed) but these were separate.I'm sorry, I have no idea where or when he got them.
Bottom line:These are a unique and rare find from a beloved show that any true collector would certainly cherish!Honestly, I think these are really cool and certainly very valuable. But maybe I am biased since I am a fan. I want them to go to someone who will truly appreciate them. Related Items:
