3" x 2-1/4" sterling Elgin American cigarette case! It has a black guilloche enamel border with yellow enamel with pink and blue flowers with green leaves on the front! No chips or flakes to the enamel.The back is solid silver. It has a green glass closure knob and closes securely. It has a small area for a monogram on the front, it's blank.Inside has the metal flap that would have held your small cigarettes.It's stamped "Elgin Am Mfg, Co., sterling silver" on the flap.It hasn't been polished and will polish as shiny as you like it. It will not fit a modern sized business or credit card. It would have held the small sized cigarettes from the 19202-30s as this is when this case was made. This can be used to hold pills or toothpicks or coins!Elgin American made some of the nicest compacts and vanity cases from the late 1910s through the 1950s, including very collectible deco designed enamel compacts!Great addition to your compact or cigarette case collection.
