William Brownfield A9897 Hand Colored Transferware Sauce Tureen C. 1881Antique British earthenware sauce tureen and matching under tray. Decorated in a black transferware pattern with flowers, urn, and a fence. Hand colored highlights in blue, ocher, and pink. Marked on the bottom with the pattern number a9897 in red. Also impressed IVORY and with a 81 date code for 1881. Probably produced by William Brownfield. Has crazing typical of earthenware, staining, and two small chips to the slot on the lid, but otherwise good condition.Measures approximately 9 1/4 inches long from handle to handle x 4 7/8 inches tall to the top of the lid finial. The stand measures approximately 8 1/4 inches long x 5 3/4 inches wide.
Measures approximately 5 3/8 inches tall when sitting on top the stand. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. IW
