This vintage bronze coin was minted to celebrate the United States Navy\'s 200th anniversary. 1775-1975. This coin has been suspended in lucite so it can be displayed on a desk, shelf, etc. The display is in brand new condition and stands 4\" X 4\". It weighs 1.5 pounds. The bronze coin has a diameter of 3\". The box indicates that this was one of the original coins from the mid 1970s. The United States Mint sells the coin alone for $160!!

A little information about the commemorative bronze coin:

Celebrate the U.S. Navy Bicentennial with this 3 Inch Bronze Medal. Perfect for a gift or nautical collection.

The sloop Alfred, flagship of the First American Fleet, which served in the Continental Navy from 1775 to 1778, is depicted on the obverse of the medal with the symbolic American eagle alight upon the anchor and the stars and stripes.

The reverse shows the modern nuclear Navy with its air, surface and submarine configuration, emanating from the nucleus of the atom. The obverse and reverse designs commemorate the 200th anniversary of the U.S. Navy on October 13, 1975.
