This vintage Sessions desk clock is a charming addition to any collection. It features a Tambour style back wind design with a brown brass case and mahogany frame. The clock has an analog display with Arabic numerals and a 30-hour wind-up power source. The clock stands at 3 inches tall and 5 3/4 inches long, with a width of 1 1/2 inches and a weight of 6 ounces. This piece is a true antique from the early 20th century, specifically between 1911-1940. The clock has no engravings and is not signed, making it a unique addition to any room.I do not know the model or exact age of the clock, but I know it was manufactured pre-1935 since it is mechanical and Sessions stopped making mechanical locks by this date.The clock is quite small and is in decent shape. The mahogany case was only cleaned and policed and the finish is in in decent shape for its age. There are no major dents and the case only has minor scratches. (Please see pictures)
The movement was not running when I obtained the clock. It turned out the hairspring was in really bad shape. I was able to straighten the hairspring and the clock runs well. It appeared a previous repair really did a number on the hairspring and collet. I did not have a replacement hairspring of the proper strength. Although it works and keeps good time, a hairspring an collet replacement would be nice in the future. It is running weak but runs the full 30 hours, might need a new mainspring. I cleaned and oiled all components. I have included a movie of the clock movement.
