It is hand-painted and crafted in Mexico c. 1970s. The planter is bedecked in hand-painted Sun Moon And Stars around its body. It also has a raised trunk that is a symbol of good luck, wisdom, and so much more. This whimsical planter will make an inspired gift or wonderful addition to your personal collection. He is surely a conversation piece.
This is a Massive or Very Large Mexican Talavera Elephant flower pot or decorative conversation piece . This is an incredible piece for the lover of Talavera and these pieces of Mexican art can be used indoors or out. This is a statement piece because of it\'s size and would be super hard to find at this size.Made in Mexico and hand painted in the Talavera tradition, each piece is completely unique and one of a kind !
This Elephant has a navy blue colored body with celestial Sun,Moon and Stars Hand Painted Detail and is bursting with wonderful decorative colors that Talavera is known for. A combination of the rich colors of blues, yellows. white , orange and black in the patterns that these pieces are known for.
If your using it outdoors, you don\'t need to spray it to protect it from the elements. The pot has a fired white inside surface as well as the under belly portion is a fired white clay. It has a drainage hole inside if you\'d like to pot a tree in it or any plant you desire. You could use it on a patio , porch or entrance to your home, then just wait for the compliments on this piece. It is beautiful but too large for my downscaled apartment.
The Elephant measurements are whopping 14 inches from nose to tail, he\'s 12 inches tall, 16 inches deep and he stands on 4 decorated feet that are 3 inches tall. He\'s a really big Elephant (I need to stress this to anyone looking to purchase him) and the ideas are endless with this awesome piece. Due to the size of this piece I would recommend shipping him FedEx or UPS which may be slightly higher in cost but he\'s 7.25 lbs in weight so shipping safely is vital.
There are no chips, or crazing on this piece because it\'s been gently loved over the years. Any color imperfections that you see are just part of the actual hand making and firing process in the finished product. As with older items , I try and give as many details as I can but these are not brand new items and may show some signs of use. Please allow for this.
