This is a set of handmade nesting dolls depicting the Russian Imperial Family, including Nicholas II and his family. Also known as Matryoska dolls. This is a set of five dolls - Nicholas II, Alexandra, Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia and Alexis. I was gifted this set in the early 1990s. I worked for CNN at the time, and a reporter was going to Russia. I asked if he could find me a set of dolls depicting the Imperial family. I left CNN in 1993 so this set is more than 40 years old. Excellent condition. The set was on display in a cabinet - as one - rarely ever opened the set except to show it to people. The main doll says in Russian Nicholas II Alexis.
