Reclaimed handpainted British pub sign "The Hop Pole" pub Ushers Brewery:
Reclaimed, original, hand painted British pub sign from the "The Hop Pole" pub imported from England.
A hop pole is a tall pole to support the wires on which the hop plant is trained. Hops, of course, are used in brewing beer and ale.
This unique, one of a kind, wooden pub sign is hand painted and depicts an old fashioned English brewer using a hop pole to help support a hop plant for future harvesting in the brewery process.
Ushers is the name of the brewery that supplied beer and ale to this particular Hop Pole Pub.
This pub is now permanently closed & was converted to flats. It was located at:
27 Avonvale Road
Redfield, Bristol, United Kingdom
Please see attached a picture of the actual pub showing the sign on display outside the pub, as well as a picture showing hop poles in action supporting hop plants.
As this is a genuine pub sign that hung outside, there are some minor scuffs and imperfect paint. This is a double sided sign, but the reverse side is pretty sun faded and not pictured.
Please see photos to verify condition.
