Handsomeoriginal antique engraving of action during the Battle of FortDonelson, fought February 11-16, 1862 near the Tennessee-Kentuckyborder.

  • This dramatic view wasengraved from a drawing byFelix Octavius Carr Darley. It is titled Capture of FortDonelson, Tenn. Chargeof Gen. Smith\'s Division.
  • The image area measures 12.8 x 18.8 cm [5\" x 7½\"], and the engravingwaspublished in Volume Two ofRobert Tomes\' TheWar with the South, New York: Virtue & Yorston,1862-1867.
  • The printed text in the lower margin reads: \"Enteredaccording toact of Congress AD. 1865, by Virtue & Yorston Co. in theclerk\'soffice of the district court of the UnitedStates, for the southern district of N.Y.\"
