I acquired this pair from a well known collector of presidential memorabilia. They were loose ungraded when I bought. This seller's family has long ties to Washington and some have held office themselves.I sent them to PSA and was STUNNED when they verified Jackie Kennedy as authentic and gave John's signature a question mark. I spoke to several people at PSA who said the decision came down to a tie breaker grader who just wouldn't give the OK to john. But there were multiple people who did believe it to be genuine, and I know it is. They are both on the exact same White House cards and were acquired at the same time while john was president, by an associate of the seller's family. Look up John F kennedy autographs on google images. His signature does vary quite a bit, and over the years you will see several styles each with distinct characteristics. But looking at many examples, you will see near identical signatures as this one that have been verified. From the separated Y as the last letter, the F middle initial connecting to John, the style of the K and Kennedy. It all checks out, but as you know PSA is by far the strictest grader and they even sent me a two page letter essentially apologizing that they gave it a question mark. PCGS has done the same to me with coins, gave them "unknown authenticity" and I was still able to sell them to experienced dealers for large sums of money. I know John's piece to be 100% authentic, I have been dealing in rare signatures for over a decade. Everything checks out, the seller, his claims (very well off elderly gentleman, no reason to lie), he was shocked and kind of chuckled when I told him the results, because he knows they're real and so do I. The fact that Jackie got the go ahead but not the other half is ludicrous, everything is right about them.
I have loved owning these pieces, they've been in my personal collection for a long time but I'm ready to pass them on. I always wanted to find a great picture of the two and get everything framed. Both pieces have little brown smudges on the reverse, see last two photos. John's has a few slight blemishes/stains but nothing that jumps out at you. Corners are pretty sharp. They show a little age, but were well taken care of from the moment they were signed. Send john in again, send them both to a different company, bust out jackie and put them both in a frame. Whatever you do, you will enjoy the heck out of these. Such an iconic pair, you can really feel the history when you hold them. And it's such an ideal set, both large autos, with the white house logo, centered on the pieces, no distractions, just pure, bold, Americana. Thank you for your interest and for reading this.
