(💥Important💥) The game settings are stored both in the MPU RAM and in an EEPROM on the backplane. When you swap MPU boards the settings on the new MPU will not match those in the backplane EEPROM and you will get an EEPROM error message. When you clear it by turning the key and pressing the MPU self test button 2-3 seconds the settings are cleared and initialized to default settings.

You can also get around not loosing your settings by swapping MPU and the backplane EEPROM all together, then your settings will remain intact. You'd need a second EEPROM for the other MPU is all. (💥Important💥)
