This is an original Enfield P1853 Rifle Musket lock plate with side screws from the Civil War era. The lock plate is marked \"BARNETT LONDON\" and was used by the Confederate army during the war. The lock has had the bridle pin broken off and the side screw at the hammer position was brocken off drilled and retaped (off center) in the past. Despite any flaws the lock works perfectly at half and full cock positions, giving audible satisfying clicks as the sear snaps into each position. The (trigger) sear pull is smooth without binding. The original side screws fit nicely in their original holes. The back of the plate is marked \"BARNETT\" and \"STEATMAN\" along with other marks. The hammer has an anchor on it, identifying it as a naval Enfield. Related Items:
