Colton, Cajon Pass guide sign.Up for sale today is this Colton, Riverside, Long Beach, Cajon Pass, Victorville, Barstow guide sign. Made to the exact standards as used from 1929 to 1934 by the Auto Club of Southern California. this guide sign was posted for many years on at the intersection of 3rd and E Streets in downtown San Bernardino, pointing in both directions along a route important enough to receive the designation of US highway 91 in 1947. The original of this guide sign, complete with the logo of the Automobile Club of Southern California, would cost many thousands of dollars - if it even survives! Only historic photos of it are known. this is a faithful remake to one-half the correct size in each dimension: 18 x 13 1/2 inches instead of 36 x 27. It is manufactured on heavy steel with the correct layout, fonts and colors. it weighs about 6 pounds, 3 ounces. It is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
