Features - All Original - High Quality example - Spelter molded metal base and clock body, the figural boy is solid bronze (he is very heavy for his size). Patent dated sept 22 1885 - Also stamp marked on the dial and the back of the clock Golden Novelty MFG Co.There is very little info out there about this clock manufacturer. Info i found is just they were a clock housing manufacturer during this time period and they worked with Western Clock Company also of Chicago for the movements. The company was then sold in approx 1891. This was just a short lived company that didn\'t make it more then about 8 years.
I also only found just a few other instances of clocks sold my this maker and they were not this same clock. they were other mantle and wall clock styles.Clock Body - Condition is as seen - Please see ALL photos you be the judge - This clock will need a repair. The back foot has broken away from the base, as stated above the figure is quite heavy and with the clock top on it also over the last 140 years it has given way. The front foot has a screw that goes in and can support the figure and the clock but is not reliable and the back foot will need to be secured, GOOD Project for someone so this rare clock can be preserved. Other then the foot the rest of the clock is in a superb condition, NO dents cracks or damageForsimilar items related to this check my Clocks sectionin my store.
