A new Lexus RX (the Lexus Sarah Michelle Gellar was driving some three and a half years ago) gets 30 MPG combined in a best case scenario (meaning that if it’s a hybrid). This Prius V that Freddie Prinze Jr. is driving on the other hand, gets 44city/40hwy.
So I guess it boils down to what Freddie Prinze Jr. & Sarah Michelle Gellar values the most: The planet they will be leaving for their children, or some other intangible vanity status symbolism (or some such)…
