This postcard shows a southward view of Ludlow, Vermont, nestled in the Green Mountains. The image highlights the town’s rooftops, the Black River Valley, and the surrounding wooded hills. A wooden railroad trestle is visible in the middle distance, part of the Rutland Railroad's branch line that served Ludlow in the early 20th century. At lower left, a tall smokestack suggests active local industry—Ludlow was once home to woolen mills & manufacturing businesses.

Ludlow was chartered in 1761 & developed as a mill town during the 1800s. By 1910, it had about 2,000 residents. The town would later gain fame as the site of Okemo Mountain, which began ski operations in 1956.
