WWII British No. 4 Mk II Spike Bayonet + Scabbard. Socket area stamped, VNS AM/712, which stands for Viners Ltd in Sheffield, the, "AM" stands for Air Ministry, meaning this particular piece was ordered for the Royal Air Force (RAF). "712" stands for the specific Air Ministry reference or contract no. assigned to this item. The opposite side is stamped with "NO 4 MARK II" and below it, looks like, "PS&S LTD", which stands for Prince-Smith & Stells Co. of Yorkshire.So Viners made the bayonet parts, and PS&S assembled the pieces together. An interesting combination. The scabbard is steel and is marked, NO.4 MK1 with a broad arrow. See photos for further details.
