WPA Plaster Model Austrian Tyrol House Museum Extension Program 1930s

This is a rare plaster architectural model of an Austrian Tyrol House, created in the 1930s as part of the WPA Museum Extension Program. These models were produced during the Great Depression by the Works Progress Administration to provide educational visual aids for schools and museums across the United States.

The Museum Extension Program was a unique New Deal initiative that employed artists and craftsmen to create high-quality replicas, dioramas, and models. This piece reflects that era’s commitment to public education and craftsmanship. It features a bronze-tone finish with "W.P.A District 15" marked on a plaque at the corner of the base.

Condition

The model is in good vintage condition for its age. There are minor paint chips along the edges of the base and roof, which is typical for plaster items of this period. Please inspect the multiple photos closely to evaluate the surface texture and specific areas of wear.

Dimensions
