Vintage Southeast Asian Woven Rattan Carrying Basket Carved Wood Tribal Folk Art:
$109.99

Beautiful vintage handwoven carrying basket featuring exceptionally tight natural-fiber weaving, carved wooden structural elements, rattan/cane reinforcement, and a cord carrying system.

The upper and lower wooden sections feature hand-carved scrolling and organic decorative motifs. The basket has a two-section construction that opens to reveal the woven interior, with substantial handwork visible throughout.

This piece strongly resembles traditional Southeast Asian ethnographic carrying baskets, including examples associated with Borneo and surrounding regions. However, its exact country, culture/tribe, maker, and age have not been independently verified, so it is being offered without a definitive cultural attribution.

DETAILS:

• Handwoven natural-fiber construction

• Carved wood upper and lower supports

• Decorative hand-carved motifs

• Rattan/cane reinforcement and bindings

• Cord carrying system

• Two-section/opening construction

• Approximately 14-15" tall

• No maker's mark or label found

• Exact age and origin unknown

CONDITION:

Pre-owned vintage condition with age-related wear throughout. There are areas of surface wear, discoloration, patina, wear to the wood, natural fibers and bindings, and some visible loss/wear along portions of the carved wooden elements.

The age and handmade nature of the piece contribute to variations in the weaving, finish and construction.

Please carefully review all photos for the exact condition, construction and measurements. Photos are considered part of the description and show the exact item you will receive.

A striking piece for collectors of Southeast Asian decorative arts, ethnographic objects, traditional basketry, folk art, primitive decor or handwoven craftsmanship.
