Up for sale is a beautiful, mid-century handcrafted Peruvian sterling silver lighter sleeve cover featuring an authentic standard Zippo manufacturing insert. These covers were highly prized tourist pieces hand-wrought by artisan silversmiths in Peru during the 1950s through the 1970s.The case features dense, intricately hand-chiseled panels honoring ancient Pre-Columbian artifacts. One side vividly depicts the iconic Incan/Chavin Staff God deity, while the reverse side captures an elaborate traditional mythological deity mask border configuration.
Condition Details:Silver Casing: Beautiful structural shape with clear details. Features a heavy, authentic aged dark patina in the recessed metal carvings that accentuates the hand-hammered design panels.Hinge & Functionality: The custom silver artisan outer hinge opens and snaps shut securely. Mild surface micro-scratching present from vintage handling, giving it great historic character.Zippo Insert: Includes a functioning, original vintage chrome-plated Bradford, PA Zippo windproof fluid lighter insert snugly fitted inside. The wheel turns smoothly and sparks well.
