$271.00
This artisan box, by Enrique Zavala, features a heavy copper body treated with a deep, layered verdigris patina, creating a dark, "burnt" aesthetic characteristic of the Brutalist movement. The lid is adorned with three intricate brass peacocks in high relief, alongside a central "eye" motif—a signature element often found in Zavala's more surrealist designs. The corners are capped with brass leaf-form brackets. The interior is lined with its original, deep blue suede material.Size: Approximately 6" L x 2.25" W x 1.75" H.
Condition: Good vintage condition. The exterior retains its original multi-tonal green and dark brown patina. The brass elements show natural aging but remain bright. The interior suede is intact with very minimal wear. The lid fits perfectly. Please SEE all photos for size and condition.

Enrique Zavala was a versatile Mexican artist and is best known to collectors of decorative arts for his innovative mixed metal "Artemi" series from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Zavala's metalwork is characterized by a "burnt" or oxidized finish and the use of applied brass motifs like owls, peacocks, and eyes, which reflect a more modern, surrealist influence than earlier traditional Mexican silver work. Related Items:
