This is a handmade folk art mosaic of a matador and bull in the popotillo style, built from hundreds of individually hand-cut and dyed pieces laid in rows against a black background. It's an original handmade piece, not a print; each cut piece is visible up close in the cape, the matador's suit, and the bull's coat, as shown in the close-up photos. The scene is protected under glass in a gold-tone wood frame with a red liner and beaded inner border, wired and ready to hang. The frame measures approximately 11.25 x 12.5 inches. It works as a statement piece on its own or in a gallery wall of folk art, Spanish Revival, or mid-century decor. There is wear consistent with age, including small chips to the frame finish, aged tape and a water mark on the backing paper.
