Vintage 1970s Otagiri Japan Kinetic Magnetic Base Roller Skater Desk Art Toy:
$75.00
An exceptionally rare vintage 1970s kinetic/magnetic motion desk sculpture manufactured by Otagiri in Japan. This mid-century modern style piece features a minimalist, chrome-plated stylized modernist stick figure sporting four-wheel roller skates, balance-pivoting over a circular metal platform base.
The piece features original markings on the chrome base reading "© OTAGIRI 1979 US PATENT PENDING". It utilizes unique balancing and magnetic principles to create an unpredictable, chaotic kinetic pendulum movement as the figure spins, tilts, and stumbles smoothly across the magnetic field without tipping over.
Condition: Great vintage condition with minor dust from storage, no deep structural damage or broken components. The chrome finish presents beautifully with minor light surface wear consistent with age. Please review the detailed photos closely to confirm condition details.
Measurements: Stands approximately 11 inches tall.
