Vintage 1940s-50s Christmas Card Album 213 Cards Scrapbook Mid Century Ephemera:
$325.00
Wonderful untouched vintage greeting card collection housed in a 1945 Century “Fine Christmas Cards” sample album. This substantial album contains approximately 213 vintage greeting cards arranged across 44 pages, with the majority appearing to date from the 1940s into the early 1950s. Christmas cards make up the heart of the collection, along with additional birthday, Easter, Valentine, get-well and other greeting cards. What makes this collection particularly special is the tremendous variety of period graphics and card construction. Throughout the album are colorful mid-century illustrations of Santa, children, animals, snowmen, trains, religious Christmas scenes, winter landscapes and more. There are dimensional and novelty examples as well as cards with unusual embellishments and textures.Among the cards pictured is a wonderful 1952–1953 Gulf “Season’s Greetings” card, along with a striking Santa-in-an-airplane card personalized “From the Kennedy Family.” Please see all photographs for examples of the cards included. The album itself is marked “1945 Century Fine Christmas Cards” and retains a label for Century Engraving & Embossing Co., Chicago, Illinois, indicating that it began life as a greeting-card sample book. It appears to have subsequently been used to preserve this large collection of cards.Album details: approximately 13” × 11” × 3½” thick and 5.2 pounds, with 44 pages and approximately 213 cards.Condition: This is an approximately 80-year-old working/sample album and its condition reflects its age and use. The album is heavily worn, with deterioration to the covers, page edges and binding, and individual cards vary in condition. Some cards may have writing, mounting residue, edge wear, discoloration, small tears, missing embellishments or other age-related imperfections. The photographs are an important part of the condition descriptionI have intentionally left the collection intact rather than removing or separating the cards. It is being offered exactly as found and as one complete collection.Because of the age, size and fragile nature of the album, it will be carefully packed for shipment. No returns. Please review all photographs and video carefully before purchasing. And I would absolutely include your flip-through video. For something like this, the video does something photographs simply can’t: it proves just how substantial the collection is.
