Original large Victorian Plan of Altham Estate Building Land, Lancashire, dating from the late 19th century and incorporating leases dated up to 1894.A fascinating original estate and development plan showing the Altham and Whinney Hill area near Accrington.The plan includes Whalley Road, Church Lane, Whinney Hill, Altham Colliery Company, Accrington Brick & Tile Co., saw mills, Prospect House and numerous individual plots, buildings and leases.Several landowners and occupiers are named, including Nutter, together with dated leases and rents. Red manuscript/printed annotations show proposed plots and services including 9 inch and 12 inch pipes, giving the plan the appearance of a working estate development document rather than a conventional printed map.Accrington Brick & Tile Co. is particularly interesting in relation to the area’s important brickmaking and industrial history.Approximate size: 38 x 29 inches (97 x 74 cm).The plan is linen backed and has clearly been used as a working document. There is age-related discolouration, staining, surface marks, creasing, edge wear and other signs of use and age.
