Authentic Peint Main Limoges France hand-painted porcelain trinket box, commissioned by Eximious of London, in the form of a pocket watch. The front has a hand-painted Roman numeral dial on a warm parchment ground, ornate scrollwork hands, and the Eximious name on the dial. The reverse carries a hand-painted gold laurel wreath on deep black gloss porcelain. It has a multi-groove antiqued brass band and its original antiqued brass watch chain on a ring at the crown. It measures 2 inches in diameter.

Eximious was founded in England in the 1980s by Josephine Louis as a gift shop known for fine gifts and monogrammed accessories, and it later opened a catalogue and shop in the United States. The centerpiece of that catalogue was an extensive Limoges collection, commissioned exclusively from European artisans. When the US catalogue closed, the commissions ended, and Eximious Limoges boxes now appear only on the secondary market.

Every element of the decoration is painted by hand, from the numerals and scrollwork hands to the freehand gold laurel wreath on the black reverse. The finely grooved brass band echoes a real watch case, and the chain hangs from a crown fitting with a small rosette. Inside is white porcelain with the full mark written by hand: Peint Main / Limoges / France / Eximious.

The box is pre-owned and in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The hinge opens and closes correctly, and the original chain is intact. The gilt rim around the dial shows light surface wear consistent with age, visible in the photos.

This is a strong piece for a Limoges collector, a collector of commissioned retailer pieces, or anyone who loves timepiece motifs. It also makes a refined ring box or keepsake gift. Gift box available upon request.
