Rhinovasum triangulare (E. A. Smith, 1902)

An impressive GIANT South African specimen measuring 74.7 × 57 mm and weighing 66.28 grams.

This substantial example displays the distinctive triangular form of the species, with a broad sculptured shoulder, strong nodules and beautiful warm brown to chestnut coloration. The aperture is particularly attractive, and the specimen retains its original operculum.

The shell is graded Near GEM. There is a natural healed growth/growth irregularity on the body whorl, documented clearly in the photographs. It appears incorporated into the shell's growth rather than being a post-collection crack and does not detract significantly from the specimen's impressive overall presentation.

Collection Data:
Natal South Coast, South Africa
Dived at 50–60 meters

This species has historically also been known as Vasum triangulare and Vasum truncatum triangulare, names collectors may encounter in older collections and references.

A striking, unusually large and well-documented South African specimen with excellent provenance and the additional collector appeal of retaining its operculum.
