Rare Early Imperial Japanese Forestry Official Dirk Dagger Rayskin Scabbard P35:

This type of civil official’s dirk is associated with Japan’s forestry administration and is sometimes confused with early Imperial Japanese Navy cadet dirks because of similarities in size, construction, and general appearance.

Distinctive features of this example include the reinforced metal backstrap on the grip, separate suspension-ring bands on the scabbard, high-quality white rayskin grip, and finely finished metal fittings.

The grip is covered in white rayskin and fitted with a cherry-blossom-style menuki/pin.
The scabbard is also covered in finely finished rayskin and fitted with double suspension rings.

The blade could not be removed from the hilt, so the tang has not been inspected.
