Incredible Piece of History: Original 1960 JFK Campaign Press Pass from the Legendary 3:00 AM Waterbury, CT Hotel Elton Speech — November 6, 1960A deeply historic, original Senator John F. Kennedy Campaign Press Pass with superb local provenance. This pass was issued specifically for JFK's final campaign push through Connecticut, culminating in his famous late-night rally in the "Brass City".
The Historic Event:Just 48 hours before the pivotal 1960 presidential election, JFK's plane landed in Connecticut after a grueling day of campaigning in New York. Arriving at the Hotel Elton (Roger Smith Hotel) in Waterbury in a freezing midnight drizzle at 3:00 AM, Kennedy expected to quietly go to bed. Instead, he found an unbelievable, roaring crowd of 40,000 rain-soaked citizens packed into the Waterbury Green waiting for him. He stepped onto the hotel's second-floor balcony and delivered one of the most electric, defining speeches of his entire campaign. This historic rally is widely credited with helping him capture the state of Connecticut on election day.Unmatched Provenance:This pass has been kept safely in a single family for over 60 years. It was originally awarded directly to the seller's mother, who attended the exclusive event as a local representative of the St. Anthony Church Ladies’ Guild.
