RARE 1965 Crown Lynn Air New Zealand DC8 First Class Tohora Salt and Pepper Shakers - excellent condition.A rare and highly collectible pair of original Crown Lynn Potteries salt & pepper/condiment shakers, made for Air New Zealand's first-class service on its DC8 aircraft in 1965.These are from the distinctive turquoise/teal and brown Māori Tohora design, one of the most recognisable pieces of early Air New Zealand airline dinnerware. The design features a stylised tohora (whale) motif, based on Māori carving. Contemporary historical records confirm that Crown Lynn produced this distinctive dinnerware for Air New Zealand's DC8 first-class passengers from 1965. The Auckland War Memorial Museum also holds the same Crown Lynn Air New Zealand shaker design, dating it to 1965, and records the bullet/ovate shape, teal glaze, brown Māori motif and brown rubber stoppers.

Both shakers have three holes and are therefore pepper shakers rather than a conventional salt-and-pepper pair. They are being sold together as a matching pair of original 1965 Crown Lynn Air New Zealand condiment shakers. They could, of course, also be used as salt and pepper shakers if desired. The Air New Zealand branding to the bases is partially obscured by the original rubber stoppers.
