Issued to Volunteer Luther Cadue, this ornate document features intricate vignettes of "Soldier's Return," "News from Home," and battle honors. It bears the printed signatures of Governor John W. Stewart and Medal of Honor recipient/Adjutant General William Wells.

Product History:

In the post-war years, Vermont commissioned these highly decorative certificates to provide a formal "thank you" to its returning soldiers. Luther Cadue (often spelled Cadue or Caduex in records) served in the Vermont 17th Infantry, a unit that saw heavy action in the Wilderness and Petersburg campaigns—both of which are listed on the banners at the top of this document.
