$499.00
This is an authentic, original vinyl street banner commissioned by the City of Atlanta to commemorate Nelson Mandela’s historic visit on June 27, 1990. Following his release from prison, Mandela embarked on an eight-city U.S. "Freedom Tour." A very limited number of these heavy-duty banners were produced and deployed along major city corridors—including Peachtree Street, Auburn Avenue, and the Morehouse College campus—to welcome the African National Congress (ANC) leader.Historical Context
Mandela's Atlanta stop drew over 50,000 people to Herndon Stadium and generated significant historical significance. These official city-deployed banners feature striking pan-African colors (red, black, green, and gold), a stylized portrait of Mandela, the official ANC emblem, and the historic event date.
