This is an eight pound lot of native copper in metabasalt from the Specialty Granules, Inc.(SGI) Quarry, located at Greenstone, Hamiltonban Township, Adams County, PA. Other minerals associated with these pieces are:epidote, chlorite, quartz, calcite and even the rare azurite/malachite. Some of the calcite will fluoresce orange under long wave UV. Rumor says that there have recently been some pieces seen with associated gold. All that I have seen is the occasional pyrite.The copper is a waste product of the mining at this locality. The cash product is the green metabasalt, used in the manufacture of construction products. I have seen this material cut into fabulous cabs and slabs. I am not a cutter, so I offer it to you. Rumor also says that the mine is now burying their scrap copper, so get it while you can. There are a few small specimen type pieces in the lot as well, too vuggy for cutting in my opinion.
