Offered is an original U.S. Model 1892 Krag-Jørgensen knife bayonet manufactured at Springfield Armory and dated 1902.
This is an authentic early-20th-century U.S. military bayonet made for the .30-40 Krag-Jørgensen service rifle.
The bayonet is clearly marked:
1902
on one side of the ricasso and:
U.S.
on the opposite side.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The U.S. Model 1892 bayonet was adopted for the Krag-Jørgensen rifle, the first smokeless-powder repeating service rifle adopted by the United States Army.
The Krag family served the United States during a transitional period in American military history that included the Spanish-American War, Philippine-American War, and the years immediately preceding adoption of the M1903 Springfield rifle.
This individual bayonet was manufactured at Springfield Armory in 1902, near the end of the Krag's period as the primary U.S. service rifle.
The 1902 date is stamped directly into the ricasso and remains clearly visible.
