Wonderful original antique tintype featuring two young women posed together in a photography studio, dating approximately to the 1870s-1880s.Both women are dressed in elaborate Victorian fashions with exceptional clothing detail. One woman is seated while the other stands beside her with her hand resting on her shoulder.Especially nice hand coloring is visible on the upholstered chair, which has been tinted a deep red/burgundy.This is a larger-format tintype and has excellent visual presence compared with the more commonly encountered smaller tintypes.Condition is as shown. There is significant age-related wear and image loss along the left edge, along with scratches, surface marks, oxidation/wear and corner/edge wear. Despite the condition issues, both women's faces and much of their clothing remain remarkably sharp and detailed.The reverse shows typical dark metal coloration and age-related surface wear.A striking original Victorian photograph with two subjects, wonderful period fashion, studio scenery and hand-applied color.Please review all photos carefully for condition.
