An original 8x4.5" vintage photo (NOT a modern reprint) from the Marty Himes estate.Provenance: This photograph comes directly from the Marty Himes Racing Museum Collection, assembled over decades by Marty Himes - racer, restorer, and lifelong archivist of American racing. Every piece he preserved tells part of the story of motorsport’s rise from dirt tracks to the spectacle of the Indy 500. We acquired the majority of his photo collection after his passing. Many of his photos are extremely rare or even one of a kind.

A tight three-car battle captured at night on a dirt modified track, photographed by Mike Feltenberger. In the foreground is car #21 driven by Junior Mikosz, a well-sponsored open-wheel modified with exposed engine and multiple decals including 'Streamline' and 'Cliff's.' Running just behind in car #3 is Jimmy Horton, whose car carries sponsor lettering including 'Jimmy Horton' on the roof rail. In the background is car #75 driven by Earl Peer, whose car prominently displays 'Commercial Truck-Trailer' and 'C.R. Fogle' sponsorship. The cars appear to be ASA or Northeast-style dirt modifieds, and the setting is a banked dirt oval at night under track lighting.
Jimmy Horton went on to become one of the most recognized names in Northeast dirt modified racing, competing extensively on the DIRT Modified circuit throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s. He was a consistent front-runner and fan favorite, eventually earning recognition as a top-tier modified driver across New York and New Jersey tracks. Junior Mikosz and Earl Peer were competitive regional modified racers active in the Northeast during the same era.
