DescriptionRare WW2 era Fascist Italy Model 1939 Fighting Knife in excellent overall condition, original metal scabbard is included. With the blade standing at 8-1/4" long, M1939 was one of the largest standard-issue fighting knives of WW2; it was a fearsome-looking weapon. Simple, reliable, and easy to manufacture, M1939 was popular with the Italian troops and it became a desirable battlefield trophy for the Allies. Many were brought home as souvenirs after the war, but most are in pretty beat-up condition.
This specimen is only lightly used; it is better-than-average condition for the type as most of these fighters were used in the field as intended. The blade has been gently re-sharpened; the tip is intact. Spear-point carbon steel blade is very sharp still. Original wood handle scales with 3 iron pins and extra-wide heavy-duty oval iron guard. The scales are intact with no cracks or chips, a few typical minor contact marks are noted for accuracy - see photos. Original all-metal scabbard miraculously has not been dented or nicked, as it seems to be the typical case with this type. About 90% of the original black finish remaining; belt hanger clasp is a bit rusted , but it is fully functional and in perfect working order. This large fighting knife is about 13" / 33 cm overall; the blade is about 8-1/8" / 20.6 cm long; original leather washer on the blade is still on. The scabbard is about 8-1/2" / 21.7 cm long; both the scabbard and the knife are unmarked, as intended.
Almost 80 years after it was made, this scarce Italian 1939 fighter is in 100% serviceable condition still. Carcano clips are not included with the knife ;) This rare WW2 era fighting knife has not been cleaned or tampered with in any way; it is in 100% original "as-is" condition; these are the actual photos. Buyers must be over 18 years of age.
