One-of-a-kind framed Midwest industrial folk-art / mechanical assemblage incorporating vintage wooden pattern-shop and machine-shop forms associated with Gardner Machine Company of Beloit, Wisconsin.

The display contains numerous individually shaped wooden mechanical forms arranged on a vivid red fabric background, including a large three-spoke wheel, levers, brackets, cylindrical forms, fixtures and other industrial pattern/model components. Many pieces retain numbered metal identification tags or markings, including 200-582, 97F-3, 225-59, 84-818, 219-115, 165-7, 26-9 and others.

Gardner Machine Company was a historic Beloit manufacturer of grinding and other industrial machinery. The wooden components in this display appear consistent with pattern-shop, model-shop, foundry or other industrial manufacturing forms and fixtures, although the exact original purpose of each piece has not been established.

The components appear to have been assembled later into the present decorative presentation, creating a highly unusual piece of American industrial folk art and Midwest manufacturing history. The combination of hardwood mechanical forms, black-painted components, numbered identification tags, bright red backing and ornate frame gives the piece exceptional visual character.

This is particularly suited to a collection or interior focused on industrial folk art, Machine Age design, foundry patterns, mechanical engineering, antique machinery, Wisconsin history, Beloit history, factory artifacts or American manufacturing.

Vintage condition with scratches, scuffs, finish wear, small chips, marks, patina and other age-related wear throughout. Frame and backing also show normal vintage wear. No claim is made that Gardner Machine Company created the framed assemblage itself or that every component’s original function has been identified.

Overall framed dimensions: approx 30x20 but I will measure. It’s big and sturdy and super cool.
