I am offering for sale an original circa 1810 French superior officer epee sword. The brass clam shell grip has 3-dimensional representations of various military motifs including, a helmet, battle flags, a sword, a battle axe, and laurel wreaths. The checkered ebony grip is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The blade contains various engravings of military motifs.This sword is a variation of the model shown in image #543 at page 305 of the authoritative French sword guide, Les Epees, by Juan LHoste. It is in excellent condition with age appropriate wear and patina. It measures 38 1/2 inches long.
