This is an authentic 1930s–1940s vintage "Polar Pak 7" metal beverage cooler made by Universal Container Company. This has some rust/ware and tear as one would expect from an item that is nearly 100 years in age. The scalloped, corrugated metal body is specially molded with individual slots designed to snugly hold 7 glass soda or beer bottles (six around the perimeter and one in the center) along with crushed ice. They were originally manufactured by the Universal Container Co. based out of Toledo, Ohio. The lid features a heavy-duty latch mechanism and a folding handle, making it a highly portable, insulated "ice chest" carrier for mid-century picnics or road trips. They are most famous for their industrial "crinkle green" or olive finishes.
