Antique Lenox 86 Teapot, Creamer and Sugar SetThree-piece Lenox porcelain tea service in pattern 86: teapot, covered sugar bowl, and creamer. Soft ivory ground and restrained gold trim, fully gilded neoclassic handles, and matching pedestal bases. Paired early green Lenox wreath mark reading “Made Expressly for Frederick Keer's Sons, Newark, N.J.” The handwritten shape and pattern numbers are 1014/86 on the teapot, 1015/86 on the sugar bowl, and 1016/86 on the creamer. These were made between 1925–1930. In 1930 they added backstamp details that this set does not have.
Teapot measures approximately 6" high with its lid and just under 10" from handle to spout. Its spout has an integral pierced strainer. The sugar bowl measures approximately 5-5/8" high with its lid and 5-3/4" across the handles. The creamer stands approximately 4-1/4" high.
This is just a fantastic set and in unusually good condition for a 100 year old paired grouping. The style is so well balanced and timeless. It makes sense that you can find this same series retail-marked by Tiffany. As mentioned ours is marked by Keer's, interesting in its own right.
Condition- Exceptionally well-kept overall. The teapot shows very little wear, including to its gilded handle, for a piece of this age. No chips, no stains, cracks, crazing, no loss, lids fit nicely, zero damage.
- The creamer and sugar bowl have a small amount of wear on their gilded handles. There is a small thinned area of gold on the creamer's base ring and minimal wear to the unglazed footer rings from display.
- The porcelain surfaces are clean, with only a few very small dark specks, many Lenox pieces from this era have scattered dark specks and this set is quite uniform overall. Please see the detailed condition photos.
Each component will be wrapped first in archival tissue and then individually in heavy protective foam. The pieces will be separated and packed with redundant cushioning in an oversized reinforced box for safe transit. Ships by USPS, FedEx, or UPS Ground. Typically ships within 1 business day. Rates to Alaska and Hawaii differ from continental US; please message for quote. International shipping available through 's Global Shipping Program.
Historical NotesFrederick Keer's Sons is cited as the leading art dealer in Newark in the early part of the 20th century. This set would have been sold alongside paintings, art pottery and other decorative arts.
'Keer sold not only paintings and art supplies but also Tiffany glass, Stickley furniture, Teco Pottery, and Rookwood.' (Chipstone Foundation)
