Adopt an old dog with plenty of character.This antique cast iron Boston Terrier is ready to stand guard in a new home. Weighing nearly 5 pounds, he has wonderful presence with upright ears, a tiny curled tail and expressive inset glass eyes.
Style him on a mantel with vintage books and brass candlesticks, let him peek out from a bookshelf, or give him a spot on an entry table, desk or library shelf. You can also put his substantial weight back to work as a doorstop.
His worn black and brown painted finish tells the story of his age. Paint loss, oxidation and patina give him the wonderfully imperfect look that makes old cast iron so interesting.
Boston Terriers, sometimes called Boston Bulls in the early 1900s, were popular subjects for American cast iron doorstops. Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and National Foundry were among the companies that produced Boston Terrier designs during this period.

The dog is made in two cast sections with a visible seam. His inset glass eyes are an especially appealing detail and give his face loads of personality.
