A Kutani Ware Yellow-Ground Polychrome "Three Friends of Winter" Vase vintage:
$280.00
This Kutani ware vase takes its inspiration from the "Three Friends of Winter" theme, a hallmark subject in Japanese decorative porcelain from Ishikawa Prefecture. Set against a vivid yolk-yellow ground, the front panel is painted with a gnarled pine tree rendered in bold ink outlines, its needles finished in vibrant polychrome enamels and accented with several small birds perched among the branches ? a striking example of the richly decorated Kutani "gosai-de" (five-colour) style. The interior neck is glazed in a soft turquoise blue, contrasting elegantly with the exterior yellow ground, while the foot is banded in green enamel for a layered, balanced palette. The base carries a pale blue glaze with a square seal mark identifying the kiln or decorator. The vase retains its original paulownia wood storage box (tomobako), inscribed in ink with the title "Three Friends of Winter Vase" ? confirming its original pairing and provenance. In good condition throughout, it makes a refined addition to any collection or interior display.
