An exceptional pair of Antique German Mercury Glass Christmas Ornaments, dating to approximately the 1920s–1930s.
These ornaments feature the highly desirable double bubble (balloon/parachute) shape, a rare form prized by collectors of early German Christmas ornaments.
Based on several construction details, these ornaments are possibly Lauscha-made. While I cannot guarantee the attribution, they display many characteristics associated with early Lauscha production, including:
- Tiny four-petal metal caps
- Visible hand-blown glass pontil tail on the bottom of each ornament
- Exceptionally thin, feather-light mouth-blown glass
- Hand-painted finish
- Long, delicate necks
The craftsmanship is remarkable. The glass is incredibly thin and lightweight, making it truly amazing that these ornaments have survived for nearly a century.
